Hey Ya'll, we are still in the south! This Wednesday we are showing you just how easy it is to make this Southern classic.
Chicken and Dumplings, a thrifty belly-filling dish that was born in the depression. The dumplings may not be the pretty, round ones you may find in other recipes, but boy are they fluffy!
For this recipe, you will need:
Chicken (whole or pieces)
4 tablespoons butter
1 onion
2 stalks celery
1 carrot
4 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons flour
4 cups of veggie or chicken stock
1 1/2 cups peas (fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup heavy cream
salt and pepper
Dumplings
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/3 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon dry parsley
1 tablespoon of dry thyme
salt and pepper
