Southern Bread Pudding with butter rum sauce

This dessert is a great way to make use of your day old bread, with ingredients readily available in your pantry. You gotta try it ya'll!




For this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 loaf of day old raisin bread cut in cubes

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup whipping cream

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of raisings that have been soaked in rum

  • chopped pecans to sprinkle top of pudding

For the butter rum sauce, you will need:

  • 4 tablespoons melted butter

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 3 tablespoons of rum

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
